Hello, my name is Tom Mitchell and I would like to take this opportunity to share a little about myself with you.
I currently live in the wine country of northern California, which is a place full of natural elegance and wonder. Although I have lived here for over 30 years, I still regularly marvel at the beauty that surrounds us. Our rugged, pacific coast is a powerful place to retreat for reflection and rejuvenation. The majestic, thousand-year-old redwood trees create such a feeling of calm, silence and peace. Our hillsides are lush and abundant, full of grapes and vines, offering locals and visitors an experience of culture and simplicity.
Sports have always been a big part of my life. As a kid and teenager, I was in love with baseball and basketball and enjoyed my share of success. I had extremely supportive parents as well older brothers who taught me how to compete and inspired me to strive for greatness.
I went to college on a full basketball scholarship and later coached college basketball and taught sport psychology. I continued my education earning a M.A. and PhD. and I am currently a sport performance counselor for an NBA team.
Years ago, my college friend became the president of a major telecommunications company and he hired me to help him build a winning attitude within his team. This opportunity launched my career as business coach and speaker.
Many years later, I founded a consulting company with an NFL, hall -of -fame legend. Together we wrote a bay area best selling book, which blends our stories and lessons about family, sports and leadership.
One of my greatest joys is in supporting the journey of my two daughters and watching them grow into amazing young women. I love them beyond words and I am in awe of their achievements, compassion for others and desire to make the world a better place. They are also fortunate that their mother, my wife, is one of the best teacher’s imaginable, which is so evident in their confidence, aspirations and values.
Although I rarely talk about it professionally, I have a hidden interest in integrating spirit into everyday life. Since I was 17 years old, I have been on this private journey and for almost 40 years, I have been working hard to quietly integrate practical, spiritual principles into work, community and family life.
However, I have reached a time and place where I no longer want to keep my spiritual life hidden. I want to share my experiences, knowledge and practices with others, without having to translate, pretend or disguise myself, in order to fit into a specific culture or group of people. I also want my daughters to know the happiness and fulfillment that comes from being on the path of self-knowledge and spiritual discovery.
Wishing you all the best.
Tom
